Indian Trail

Indian Trail

The Indian Trail is one of the few historic connecting paths used by the ancient natives and still providing vital communication means for the locals. It takes you directly through an Indian reserve where you can spend the night and experience indian life.

The path was and is still used by mountaineers. It is approximately 80 km long and starts in the Yerba Buena district, 600 meters above sea level in subtropical climate. It climbs up to about 4300 meters and ends in the desert region of Amaicha at about 1997 meters above sea level.

The landscape varies from forest sites with exhuberant vegetation to plateaus full of lamas, guanacos and so on. The path offers a lot of natural spectacles such as the Laguna de Amaicha, which is situated on 4300 meters or the starlit nights and so much more.

There might be different situations, which will snap your energy. Surroundings will vary from easy foot paths to stony and sandy trails, from humid to dry and very thin air (Puna) and from warm daily temperatures to cold nights.

The idea is to offer you an alternative to simple bus and coach rides. No matter where you are, whether in Tucumán or in Amaicha, the hiking can be start from both directions. The only thing you have to do is to bring along your spirit of adventure, stamina and your pleasure in nature.
